What it is

Hyperhidrosis (extreme, uncontrollable sweating)  is a condition in which sweating in excess takes place without explanation, or without a reason.

It may affect anybody (5% of population), although there seems to exist a family trend. Most cases are of unknown origin.

Usually, the condition has an extraordinary effect on the normal life of individuals, altering their quality of living.

When sweating is severe, it can be embarrassing, uncomfortable, anxiety-inducing, dangerous, and disabling. It often disrupts all aspects of a person's life, from career choices and recreational activities to relationships, emotional well-being, and self-confidence (IHS).

The areas most commonly affected are armpits, hands, forehead and face, neck, body, groin, feet.

It can be localized or generalized.

The condition is often misunderstood, misrepresented and mismanaged (IHS).

In some occasions a sweaty face may be taken as being nervous or even as showing a lack of self confidence

Definitions

"It’s normal to sweat if you get hot or do exercise, but you may be sweating excessively if you’re sweating when your body doesn’t need to cool down. Excessive sweating can happen for no obvious reason, because of another condition you may have or as a side effect of medication you’re taking” (SOURCE: NHS.UK)

"In some people, the body’s mechanism for cooling itself is overactive — so overactive that they may sweat four or five times more than is necessary, or normal.

This kind of excessive sweating is a serious medical condition. (International Hyperhidrosis Society, IHS)"

SWEATY HANDS

A sweaty hand may be a problem in some occasions for businessmen, attorneys, managers, and other professionals, when shaking hands should help to build a professional relationship.

But it also affects personal relationship and it has a strong emotional impact on self-confidence.

One of the best, if not the best, treatment options.  It will stop the excess of sweating.

It works by blocking the transmission between the nerves and the sweating glands and the effect will last around 4 to 6 months usually, though in some cases it will last for even longer. There are no fixed rules on this, as personal variations will intervene.

The treatment is just a number of minimal injections on the area to be treated, and in the right hands, this procedure is almost painless.

In some areas, as the armpits, there is no pain at all. On hands there is more pain as the number of sensitive nerve terminals is higher but with the right technique it can be easily done in a fast and efficient manner.  When an experienced professional provides the injections, the discomfort will be bearable.
After the treatment it is important to avoid any risk of infection at the entry points of the injections, avoiding contact, for example, with pets, soil, dirt, etc.
The effect of the product is not immediate, as it needs some days to start to work, and although personal variations need to be considered, in 3 weeks the effect should  be noticeable.
